Central Lake Community Info

The Village of Central Lake is one mile square and is surrounded by Central Lake Township. The community is home to about 1,000 residents living on the north end of Intermediate Lake.

Central Lake is home to a diversity of people and professions. There is a strong sense of community in our village and ties to the Central Lake Schools are strong. We are very proud of our children!

We have a lovely modern campground in Thurston Park. The campground features 47 campsites, a playground, a boat launch, and docks.

Central Lake is also the perfect destination spot for your motorcycle ride or tour of northern Michigan. Centrally located among many 2-3 hour road trips, our area boasts a host of winding, twisting roads and hills – affording riders unparalleled views of farms, fields and, of course, gorgeous bodies of water including Torch Lake and the Chain Of Lakes.

Our local Chain Of Lakes ecosystem is divided into the Upper and Lower Chains with six lakes each, providing an abundance of water for all lake enthusiasts. In and outside of the village, there are biking and hiking opportunities wherever you look. Torch Lake, said to be one of the world’s most beautiful lakes, is only three miles away.

And if you’re wondering about air travel, Torchport and Antrim County Airports are both less than ten miles from the village. Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport is 45 minutes away.
